What is cloud computing?

You often hear:

“It’s in the Cloud.”

In French, we usually say infonuagique.

But cloud or infonuagique… what is it exactly?

What is it?

Cloud computing simply means using computers that are somewhere else, over the Internet.

Those computers can store your photos, documents, and email, or run the apps you use.

For example, when your photos are saved in iCloud or Google Photos, you are already using the cloud.

Your phone breaks?

Your photos are still there, because they did not live only on your phone.

To remember

Cloud computing = using the Internet to store information or use services that run on computers located elsewhere.
