AI has no language borders 🌍

When I created luc.cloud, my goal was simple: explain technology in words everyone can understand.

Naturally, I was mostly thinking about French and English speakers.

Then I added an AI chat feature to my site.

And I realized something pretty extraordinary.

Without really planning it, I had just opened my site to a much larger potential audience!

Large artificial intelligence models understand and use many languages.

So someone can visit luc.cloud and ask their question:

• 🇬🇧 In English
• 🇪🇸 In Spanish
• 🇩🇪 In German
• 🇮🇹 In Italian
• 🇯🇵 In Japanese
• 🇨🇳 In Chinese
• And in many other languages!

The AI can understand the question, look up the information available on my site, and answer in the person’s own language.

Even though my articles are written in French!

🤖 I don’t need to translate everything

That’s what fascinates me.

Traditionally, offering a multilingual site meant you had to:

• translate the articles;
• maintain several versions;
• handle updates in every language.

With an AI chat, another option appears.

I publish my content in my language, and the AI can help visitors discover it in theirs.

Careful, it isn’t perfect: performance varies from one language to another, and so does translation quality. And the chat doesn’t fully replace a translated site.

But for making information accessible, it’s a remarkable step forward.

💡 A door open to the world

What I find especially interesting is that I hadn’t even thought of this benefit at first.

I simply wanted to let visitors ask questions about the content of luc.cloud.

And now a feature meant to make conversations easier could also bring down a language barrier.

A visitor in Quebec, Spain, or Japan could ask a question about the same article and get an explanation in their own language.

🍳 The simple version

Before, reaching people who speak different languages usually meant translating your content.

Today, AI can become an interpreter between my knowledge and the visitors to my site.

I keep writing in French.

You ask your questions in your language.

And the AI helps us understand each other.

Tech, simply. And now, in many more languages! 🌍
